Oh How Tweet! Sarah's Sprinkle

This weekend I hosted a baby shower for my sister.  With it being her 3rd child she didn't want anything huge and over the top, so we had a sprinkle instead!

This is the cake I made for her, it coordinated with her invites.  The cake was a chocolate fudge cake.  Then the layers alternated with chocolate pudding and chocolate whipped icing.  Each layer also had sliced strawberries.  It was then covered in chocolate MMF.  At the decor was made from MMF and then hand painted.  TFL!

Chicago Bears

This cake was made for my Dad's 56th birthday! We are HUGE Chicago fans, so I decided to make him a Bears themed cake. It is almost impossible to tell from the picture, but the blue fondant is impressed with balloons, "Happy Birthday", and "Celebrate". The cake and cake board are decorated with MMF. I then painted the numbers onto the cake board using Wilton's White-White.

My dad's not a big dessert person, but loves his peanut butter cups. So, every year I make him a chocolate cake with a peanut butter filling. This year I decided to switch it up a bit. So, I made him a Peanut butter silk cake. I followed the cake recipe and changed the filling just a little. I added cocoa powdered and a little powdered sugar; giving him a peanut butter cake with a chocolate-peanut butter mousse. I then sprinkled crushed up butterfingers on top of the mousse; giving each bite just a bit of a crunch!  TFL

75th Birthday - Mardi Gras Theme

I was lucky enough to be asked to do a 75th birthday cake for one of my closest friend's (growing up) dad!  This was a FUN one to do too!  The theme was Mardi Gras.  I knew I couldn't do a Mardi Gras cake without at least one mask, and if there is going to be one you might as well do two!!!!  The masks were made from MMF and painted with edible gold paint.  They had originally asked for a 2 tier cake, but I decided a 75th birthday REALLY needed a 3rd tier :-)  All 3 tiers were marble cake, which I used vanilla cake, chocolate cake and melted chocolate.  So each bite had a nice chocolate surprise!  Then the top and bottom tier were filled with vanilla BC; while the middle tier had chocolate mousse!  The cake was covered in white MMF and then decorated with MMF (the gold was painted using edible paint).  To keep the medal wires from touching the cake I inserted a straw, which then butted up to the dowel.  The cake was stabilized using a wooden dowel that went from the top tier through the bottom (leaving about a 2" gap on the top for the straw).    TFL!!!!

My sister's birthday cake was a Mojito Cake by Betty Crocker!  This is my FAVORITE cake and is now my sister's also :-)

Her two favorite colors are purple and teal.  The cake is covered and decorated in MMF.  The board is also covered in MMF and I used the Wilton Happy Birthday Fondant Imprint Mat to add a little texture and decoration.  The cake board, flower and teal circles were all dusted with edible silver dust.  TFL!!!!!!!!!!!

Baby Anisten! - Great Expectations II

This cake was for one of my phenomenal friends baby showers!  The top tier was a strawberry cake with a whipped cream filling and the bottom tier was yellow cake with chocolate mousse.  The cake is covered in and decorated in MMF.  Her shower theme was Great Expectations.  This was my first time making a 3-D umbrella and mini bows.  The board was covered in MMF and I used Star Power Fondant Imprint Mat.  Each of the circles, ribbons, and dots on the umbrella was dusted with edible silver dust.  TFL

Celebrating Baby Kaylee - Mia Rose Cake

Sorry this picture is sideways.  I've tried EVERYTHING to get it right side up!!!!!!!!  I made this cake for one of my BEST friends baby shower.  She is expecting her first child (Kaylee) and I was blessed enough to be asked to make the cake!!!!!!  Her shower theme was . . . you guessed it pink and brown.  So I chose to base her cake off of her baby bedding CoCaLo Mia Rose
The top tier was a 4" cake which I made from pound cake.  The middle tier was strawberry cake with a chocolate mousse filling.  While the bottom was death by chocolate, dark chocolate cake with chocolate mousse.  All the layers were iced in chocolate butter cream.  The 3 tiers are covered and decorated in fondant.  The pink fondant is strawberry MMF and the brown fondant is chocolate MMF.  The name plate, butterflies and middle tier were all hand painted.  I had SO much fun with this cake, it's the first one in a while that I haven't had any instructions and got to just design and go.
