Purple Passion

This cake I made for my grandma Lee Lee's birthday. It was my first bow ever! Her favorite color is purple. This was a dark chocolate cake with strawberry puree, white chocolate mousse and fresh sliced strawberries in between each layer.

TMNT

This is a birthday cake I did for my brother's 22nd birthday. He was a HUGE fan as a kid. It was a light orange cake with an orange mousse filling and iced with vanilla butter cream. The turtle heads were molded from rice treats (this was my first attempt at molding with RKT) and then covered with fondant. The cake and cake board are also covered with fondant and lightly dusted with an edible silver powder for added depth. (while it's hard to tell the lid is the same color as the cake).

Allspark

This was done for my nephews birthday. He wanted a chocolate cake, with chocolate mousse AND chocolate butter cream icing. I then cut small sections out of the cake to resemble dents and missing chunks. It is covered in marshmallow fondant. I then hand carved into the fondant (some shapes and symbols) and dusted it with a silver edible powder for added shine!  This is my first attempt at a squared cake.

Poker!

This was for my dad's 55th birthday. Every Friday the guys in the neighborhood get together and play poker. So, I thought this would be a wonderful theme for his birthday!  The cake is a chocolate cake, with peanut butter mousse filling (I added chopped up Reese's piece to the filling)  and covered with chocolate frosting. I then used marshmallow fondant to cover the cake, make the poker chips and the playing cards. The white poker chips and playing cards were then hand painted with diluted food coloring or piped on.

Strawberry ShortCake!

Since my sister and my dad's birthdays are so close together we also celebrated her birthday that night.  Strawberry Shortcake was one of her FAVORITE things when we were growing up.

I made a vanilla cake with a white chocolate strawberry mousse filling, iced in vanilla butter cream and decorated with fondant accents. I then used a candle for the decoration on top (haven't built up enough courage to try and mold a person yet). Though it is hard to see in this picture the words "happy birthday" along with some balloons are pressed into the white fondant.  When it came time to eat this, my niece thought the green balls were peas!
